Four Craven roads will be closed next week. In Grassington, Main Street will be closed near No 40, from Monday to Friday, for gas works. Similar five-day closures are planned on Stangs Lane, Appletreewick, due to BT work, and Tatterhorn Lane, Ingleton (from Langber End to Langber) due to drainage work. Two hurt in shunt

Two people were slightly hurt in a three-vehicle shunt at a roundabout in Skipton. Mitsubishi L200 driver Richard Czornowol, 47, of Thornton-in-Craven, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. Elizabeth Bond, 34, of Hebden, who was driving a BMW, also suffered slight injuries but did not require hospital treatment. The other driver involved was a 33-year-old Addingham man. The incident occurred on the town's western bypass at Snaygill.   more...

Computer tricksters

a Skipton man has fallen victim to computer conmen. The man was walking along Pendle Street in the town when he was approached by two men in a car. The men offered him a laptop computer for £550. The victim agreed and took the men to his house where he got the cash. After they left, he opened the case to find it empty apart from a two-litre water bottle and an empty cardboard box.   more...
