New patron for railway line reopening campaign

From the archive, first published Thursday 4th Jan 2007.

Richard Bannister, of Coniston Cold and chairman of Boundary Mill Stores, has become a patron of the group campaigning to reopen the old Skipton to Colne railway line.

Lord Berkeley, chairman of the Rail Freight Group, has also joined the Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership (Selrap). The group registered its 201st member in 2006 - a milestone in its plans.

This year, Selrap plans to develop a sound business case for reopening the line as part of a detailed feasibility study.
