Soccer: Sunday football

AC Victoria 5 Beechwood WMC 3 - Victoria had slightly the better of the first half exchanges and opened the scoring through Liam Blacka. Adie Lonsdale scored a second to give the Keighley side a 2-0 lead at half time.

After the break Victoria became complacent and after 15 minutes Beechwood had drawn level. Victoria recovered their composure and took control again with Blacka and Lonsdale each scoring a second goal.

The final strike was a cracking goal with man of the match Harvey Robinson collecting the ball in his own half and breaking through the Beechwood defence before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 20 years.

Eastwood Tavern 2

Roundhay 4

The Leeds side were more organised that Tavern and took control of the game in the opening period. They found the back of the net three times, while Eastwood were restricted to one goal.

After the beak Tavern reduced the arrears to a single goal, only for the visitors to make sure of victory from the penalty spot.

Eastwood's scorers were Sean Kelly and Keith Spencer, with David Want their man of the match.

Keighley Athletic 2

Selby Griffin 0

Athletic were always in control of their encounter with the Selby side and scored a goal in each half to book their place in the next round. Steve Harman and Paul Goodwin were the scorers.

Premier Division

Stanbury Park Rangers 6

Three Horses 2

Three Horses had the better of the early exchanges, but it was Stanbury who opened the scoring through Dave Armstrong. Three Horses were soon back on level terms thanks to a McNicholls strike and for the next 20 minutes they fought out an even contest. Armstrong broke the deadlock with his second goal and Scott Turkington added a fourth just before the break.

In the second half Dave Bainbridge increased Stanbury's lead and McNicholls scored his second for Horses. with five minutes to go Craig Labbett scored the final goal of the game for Stanbury.

Bingley Harvester 2

Keighley United 8

Dave Scott opened the scoring for Harvester after 20 minutes, but five minutes later United were awarded a penalty from which they drew level. United had a player dismissed, but with 10 men they scored a further two goals to secure a 3-1 advantage at half time.

Apart from breakaway efforts it was all one way traffic in the second half with Bingley on the receiving end of a further five goals while Richard Waded added a second consolation effort for -Harvester.

United's scorers were Andy Bennett (2), John Curry (2), M Nazer, Mark Webster, John Gunning and S Glazer.

Division One

Silsden 2

Braithwaite Tavern 2

There was little to choose between the teams throughout the 90 minutes. Scores were level 1-1 at the break, Adam Ackroyd opened the scoring for the visitors and James Whitehead netted for Silsden. As ion the first half it was Braithwaite who again took the lead, once again it was Adam Ackroyd who put Silsden level shortly before the final whistle.
